    Baptism
The baptismal liturgy, with its symbols of water, oil, light and garment, recalls into the present the reality of Christ's redeeming work.
    • Baptism is one of the Sacraments of Christian Initiation, which traces its founding back to the days of Jesus. It washes away the stains of Original Sin passed on to us from Adam and Eve's failings in the Garden and begins our journey as we strive to "walk by the light of Christ and trust in His wisdom.”

Anyone seeking to have their child baptized at Light of Christ must meet certain requirements depending on the age of the person who is to be baptized. However, all are required to be registered, active members of the parish for at least 6 months prior to the sacrament. Forms may be mailed or turned into the office during regular office hours.

    • Godparents
      • In the Sacrament of Baptism, godparents commit to teach their godchildren about God – the divine plan and the intent He has for our lives.
To be a Godparent, one must be an active, practicing Catholic in good standing, and available to teach and be a presence in the life of the godchild.
To demonstrate this, the godparent must provide a letter of eligibility from the parish where the godparent attends. Non-Catholics can be Christian witnesses. However, the family must select at least one Catholic godparent.

    • Thoroughly wash away my guilt; and from my sin cleanse me. -Psalm 51:4 (NABRE)
