    The Eucharist
"They devoted themselves to the teachings of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers." - Acts 2:42 (NABRE)
    • Holy Communion

When the hour came, he took his place at table with the apostles. He said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,” - Luke 22:14-15 (NABRE)

Each week, we come together at Mass to take part in the Last Supper, inviting Jesus into our lives as we receive his precious body and blood through the Sacrament of Holy Communion. As with the other Sacraments of Christian Initiation (Baptism & Confirmation), a period of preparation is required before someone receives the Eucharist for the first time.

    • First Communion Prep for Ages 7-18
      • The Diocese of St. Petersburg requires two consecutive years of preparation for children. This preparation can be completed either through our Parish Faith Formation program, or through a Catholic School; both options involve a collaborative effort of the parish community and the family of those being presented for the sacrament.

        FIRST-YEAR PREPARATION:
        • Contact one of our Administrative Assistants to verify your Parish Registration
        • Be registered and attending either our Faith Formation Program, or a Catholic school by October 1st.
        • Attend Sunday (or Saturday Vigil) Mass weekly at Light of Christ Parish.
Please Note: Students enrolled in our Faith Formation Program who have more than five absences will have to repeat First Year Preparation.

        SECOND YEAR PREPARATION:
        • Be registered and attending either our Faith Formation Program, or a Catholic school by October 1st.
        • Complete a First Communion Request Form.
        • Provide a photocopy of the child's Baptismal Certificate.
        • Attend both our Penance Retreat and our First Communion Retreat.
        • Attend Sunday (or Saturday Vigil) Mass weekly at Light of Christ Parish.
Please Note: Students enrolled in our Faith Formation Program who have more than five absences will have to repeat Second Year Preparation.
    • First Communion Prep for Adults
      • Adults who have not yet received their First Communion should speak with Fr. Bill or Deacon Miguel before or after any Mass for information.

    • "Do this in memory of me." -Jesus

Did you know that even though Jesus said, "This is my body" (Luke 22:19, NABRE), only one-third of Catholics believe the Eucharist we receive at Mass is literally Jesus's body and blood? Despite the Lord explicitly saying so at the last supper, and despite there being an entire website dedicated to the miracles that back up those words, most Catholics don't believe in the true presence as they should.
