First Holy Communion

Scripture

They devoted themselves to the apostles'instruction and the communal life, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

Acts 2: 42

National Catechetical Directory

Catechesis for First Communion seeks to strengthen the candidates’awareness of God’s love, of
the call to participate in Christ’s sacrifice, and of the gift of the Spirit. Children should be taught
that the Holy Eucharist is the real body and blood of Christ and what appears to be bread and
wine are actually His living body.

Is it time for your child to make his/her First Communion?

Each year the parish rejoices with a beautiful class of First Communicants! There should be at least one year of Faith Formation prior to the year of immediate preparation for First Holy Communion. This guideline is met through participation in a Catholic school or parish Faith Formation program. Each free-standing preparation program involves the collaborative effort of the parish community and the families of those presented for sacraments.

Ms. Susie Briggs can get you registered for classes.

Coronavirus Update

Dear Parishioners of Light of Christ:

Certainly these are unusual and challenging times, but then, as St Paul reminds us, “ We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him” (Romans 8, 28). Let’s pray that these recent events will help us grow in the grace and wisdom of the Holy Spirit with what is left of this Lent.

Please be assured that your parish cares about you, and people are praying daily for your health and safety.

Over the next few days, we will be uploading additional information about prayer opportunities and support.

The church will be open for private prayer during normal Mass times: 8:00am to noon (Monday to Sunday); 6:00pm to 8:00pm (Monday through Friday); and 3:00pm to 8:00pm (Saturday and Sunday).

There are three outdoor sanctuaries (Resurrected Lord Garden, Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, and Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine). These are beautiful places to come and worship privately. Please use them.

While the office is closed for the moment, messages are regularly being reviewed. If you need assistance, please call and leave a message (727.441.4545). Also, feel free to email the parish at info@locchurch.org. Your messages will be responded to as soon as possible.

Create a home altar and make that a sacred space during this time for prayer and meditation on the Mass readings. (http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/)

God Bless You and Keep You Safe and Healthy!
